Resources & Notes
Here are some notes on astronomy-related software and data reduction that I've put together over the years.
Most of these were last updated in 2017. I've tried to remove anything that has become obviously obsolete since then, but some information may not be applicable to newer versions of software or operating systems.
- How to install IRAF on Mac or Linux.
- Tips for using IRAF's apall task for aperture extraction.
- My quick-and-dirty GitHub cheat sheet.
- HeNeAr and HgNeAr spectral atlases for wavelength calibration on the MMT Observatory's multi-fiber Hectospec spectrograph.
- My sky subtraction program “Hectosky,” designed for fiber spectra in regions with complicated background emission.
